Action Alert

The Department of Energy deadline for comments on water heater standards has passed. We've left the letter up for your information. Check back periodically for alerts. Next one is likely for refrigerators and freezers in late spring/early summer 2010.

****************************************************************

Water heaters are the third largest energy user in the home. By strengthening efficiency standards, the Department of Energy could save consumers and businesses over $6.4 billion dollars in energy costs over 30 years. Standards at the higher level will also reduce global warming emissions by up to 63 million metric tons - the equivalent emissions of 25 coal-fired power plants. Take action now!

Beginning of letter (this will automatically be included):

Honorable Steven Chu
Secretary
U.S. Department of Energy
