Commercial Water Heaters

Federal standards on commercial water heaters were set under the Energy Policy Act of 1992.  This legislation adopted standards originally set by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (AHRAE) in 1989.  These standards were modified by ASHRAE in 1999 and the revised standards became federal standards in October 2003.
