DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) players are popular home electronics used to play DVDs storing audio-visual data such as movies. DVD records are devices used to record audio-visual signals onto a DVD.
California took the lead in adopting standards for DVD players and recorders in 2004, when the California Energy Commission adopted a maximum 3-watt standby mode standard for these products to take effect beginning in January of 2006. New York followed its lead in 2005 and Oregon in 2007. DOE is not currently required to set standards for these products.
There is no recent ASAP activity regarding audio products.
