2010 State Appliance Standards Analysis - Project Overview

ASAP has published model legislation for state appliance standards bill each year since 2001. A dozen states have enacted bills based on these models, some having enacted two iterations. For 2010, the ASAP Model State Standards Bill includes six products. All the recommended standards provide meaningful potential energy savings and are very cost-effective for the buyers and users of the affected products.  All can be met by products on the market today. None of the six products are covered by existing federal standards.

For each newly recommended standard we provide detailed information on the product and the specific technical standard, which can be found by clicking on the Product Descriptions link below. The link to our detailed Methodology and Assumptions for the analysis follow the product descriptions. We also provide state-by-state impact data which can be found using the map below.

State-by-State Appliance Standards Benefits

Click on a state below to bring up a pdf document that reports the individual state benefits from the energy efficiency standards included in our 2010 Model Bill. The tables include energy consumption and dollar savings estimates, as well as estimates on avoided emissions and peak load capacity reductions.
